The Art of Happiness Project is a preventive psycho-educational project to support public mental health and will continue throughout the education year. We will give education to kindergarten and preschool teachers.Teachers will both develop themselves in positive thinking and learn activities to apply to the young children in their classes.The education will be given by using the perspective of multidimentional thinking and character strengths. An activity handbook for preschool and kindergarten teachers will be developed as an outcome of the project. Teachers will take theoric education one times a week and make practices throughout the week. Education will start on 26th of November and end in the first week of June. Project partners are Cyprus International University, National Ministry Joint Service General Directorate, Prime Ministry Anti_Drug Comission, Nicosia and Kyrenia Municipality (https://www.ciu.edu.tr/event/mutluluk-sanati-tr-10322). 

Hypotheses/Research Questions

Does  The Art of Happiness Teacher Education Program have an impact on teachers’ life satisfaction?

Does  The Art of Happiness Teacher Education Program have an impact on teachers’ subjective wellbeing?

Does The Art of Happiness Activities have an impact on children’s drawing themes (negative-neutral-positive themes)?

Sample Characteristics and Sample Size

 80 kindergarten teachers

300 children

Design

 Experimental design with pretest and post test

Results

For the teachers Life-Satisfaction and Subjective-WellBeing Scales will be used for pretest and post test.  For the children, free drawings will be evaluated based on their themes. The results will be discussed.  Also, teacher’s subjective evaluations and activities developed by the teachers will be discussed as a qualitative data of the Project.   

Scientific Contribution

This Project is developed as preventive psycho-educational Project to support public mental health and the impacts of the Project will be evaluated scientifically. This Project is funded by Northern Cyprus Prime Ministry Anti-Drug Comission.
