A new measurement of wellbeing based on awareness, insight, connection and purpose (#151)

Background

 

Connection with others and life purpose have been documented as two critical components of individual wellbeing. It has also been pointed out that meditation can be a source of wellbeing.

Hypotheses/Research Questions

 

In the present study, a questionnaire based on four dimensions is validated in Spanish: consciousness, perception, connection with others and purpose.

Sample Characteristics and Sample Size

 

Using a sample of 400 students from Tecmilenio University, the Healthy Minds Index survey originally developed by the Center for Healthy Minds team is validated into Spanish.

Design

 

The survey will identify the impact of a meditation-based wellness program conducted by 400 students.

Results

 

The program will end in December 2020 and the results are expected to show that the practice of meditation positively impacts various domains of student wellbeing.

Scientific Contribution

 

The study contributes to the science of wellness by confirming that the practice of meditation aided by technological tools allowed people around the world to increase their attention to the present moment and improve their quality of life.
