Background

Tecmilenio University has declared a wellbeing culture that each member of the community has subscribed to, the Wellbeing and Happiness Ecosystem, which includes the following elements: Positive Emotions, Engagement, Positive Relationships, Achievement, Physical Wellbeing, Mindfulness, Purpose in Life and Character Strengths. As part of this Ecosystem, staff members apply different positive practices in their daily routine to foster employees’ wellbeing, but assessment is needed to confirm if positive practices, embedded in the organizational processes, increase employees’ wellbeing.

Hypothesis/Research Questions

Given the above, the following research question arises: Can wellbeing standards be implemented in organizational processes? Do wellbeing standards predict employees’ wellbeing?

Sample characteristics and sample size

The sample was made up of 275 participants, from 6 different campuses at Tecmilenio University.

Design

To answer the research question, participants responded two surveys: a wellbeing assessment, comprising items that assess the Wellbeing and Happiness Ecosystem, and wellbeing standards assessment, comprising items that assess the level in which positive practices are implemented in organizational processes, such as recruitment, induction, operation, feedback sessions and personal development.

Results

Results showed that wellbeing standards are present at different organizational processes and that employees experience high levels of wellbeing in each of the Ecosystem domains. Researchers also conclude that further assessments are needed within organizations that do not have a preference towards a wellbeing culture or that show low levels of performance.

Scientific Contribution

The study shows that assessing wellbeing standards, embedded in organizational processes is possible, and that these standards predict high levels of employee wellbeing.
