Systems-informed Positive Psychology (SIPP) is an emerging perspective within Positive Psychology, which explicitly expands the focus of positive psychology beyond the individual, to also incorporate the broader forces and contextual factors that shape and impact individual and collective flourishing (Kern et al., 2019). Drawing on concepts, principles, and tool from the systems sciences, SIPP acknowledges the complexity of everyday life, while adding an optimistic belief about what the future can hold and motivating people to co-create solutions that can help human social systems thrive. In this session, participants will be introduced to the SIPP perspective, becoming active contributors as we collectively bridge SIPP theory, research, and practice. Participants will have the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of a systems-informed approach to wellbeing, dig deeper into the ideas of SIPP, and identify specific ways to apply these ideas to everyday practice. This session describes SIPP, illustrates SIPP in action, and highlights key principles and their implications for embedding wellbeing in everyday practice.
