This Education Division President’s Symposium features brand-new research from Israel, Hong Kong, Mexico and Singapore on wellbeing and positive education. The foundational positive education review by Seligman et al. (2009) established a case for teaching wellbeing in schools and education more generally. The term ‘positive education’, which was first defined as ‘education for both traditional skills and happiness’ by Seligman et al. (2009), has matured to investigate the nexus between wellbeing, learning and teaching. A decade later, what topics are current researchers focusing on and what are the findings? When education scholars worldwide are grappling with the rolling waves of COVID-19 and education, this symposium features new, emerging and essential research engaging issues related to wellbeing and positive education in schools and higher education.
