Jennifer Ward
PhD Researcher, Speaker and Behaviour Support Worker with an authentic passion to inspire and motivate individuals and communities to lead flourishing lives.
A final year PhD student who implemented 'Prescribing Happiness' a Positive Psychology Intervention in a community pharmacy setting with members of the local community and with healthcare workers who have been working with patients during COVID-19 (General Practitioners, Community Pharmacists & Technician). Prescribing Happiness has been designed from the work of the Dr Martin Seligman, founder of Positive Psychology and his Wellbeing Model 'PERMA'. This novel intervention will be a first of a kind to be implemented and evaluated in a health-care setting. Prescribing Happiness was implemented in January 2020 and data collection stopped in September 2020. Now, the research team is in the process of evaluating the intervention to understand its effect.
My aspirations lie in creating a job which integrates all my research and practical experience from my undergraduate in Sport and Exercise, Masters in Psychology and Mental Health and a PhD in Positive Psychology to create an evidence based approach which aims to support individuals and communities to sustain long term mental and physical health.
