Martin Seligman’s PERMA-Modell inspired several areas in psychology to develop measurements and practical interventions using the PERMA framework. In the area of organizational psychology therefore a new Positive Leadership approach, PERMA-Lead, was developed. It defines Positive Leadership as specific leadership behaviour, that increases PERMA in employees and it thus complements the models of Kim Cameron and Fred Luthans.
Numerous evidence-based studies in recent years confirm the positive effect of this specific positive leadership management style on sick leave, burn-out risk, employee turnover and so on. Studies show that customers buy more and complain less when the store manager shows PERMA-Lead related behaviour and that this management style also has a positive effect on the managers resilience, stress-level as well as his ability to find solutions for problems.
For practical application, with the online-based PERMA-Lead Profiler and the PERMA-Lead 360 degree feedback two professional evidence based tools have been developed which can be used in coaching, seminars and in organisational development. About 400 certified consultants are already using these tools in different companies like Bosch, Ikea, Lidl, T-Mobile, etc.
The added value of this approach is the combination of profound psychological research with the development of tools for use in practice. It is thus a contribution to the desire for evidence-based practical tools in organizational psychology.
In this presentation, the PERMA-Lead model of Positive Leadership will be presented as well as selected practical study results. Furthermore the participants will get to know the tools. On the basis numerous practical examples it is shown, how these tools can be used in different seminars, coachings and in organizational development projects.
Short psychological experiments with the audience during the presentation will clarify the effect.
